The key distinction
Liability, personal injury protection, and damage to your own vehicle serve different purposes. A phrase such as full coverage does not identify a complete set of terms. Review the declarations page and relevant policy provisions.
A practical scenario
Imagine moving from Kissimmee to a home near an Orlando workplace. Write down the new address, commute, regular drivers, and any delivery activity before seeking a comparison. Then make a three-column worksheet: coverage currently listed, question about that coverage, and the answer received. A lower total premium is difficult to evaluate if the proposals describe different drivers or different vehicle use. This example is a preparation exercise, not a coverage decision or a prediction of your price.
Your review checklist
- Which current Florida requirements apply to this vehicle and its use?
- Which liability and injury-related coverages are shown separately?
- Are collision and comprehensive included, and with which deductibles?
- What changes when the address, drivers, or business use changes?
- Which documents confirm the effective date before an old policy is canceled?
A common question
Is a price comparison enough?
No. Compare the insured vehicle and drivers, coverage limits, deductibles, exclusions, and effective dates alongside the price. Resolve differences before treating two proposals as equivalent.
